Introduction

 

Roman is the result of a collaboration between two UK kennels, Emberez and Rhodonite.

 

His father is International Ch, Belgium Ch, Dutch Ch and French Ch Emberez Apollo and his mother is the very beautiful female Rhodonite Rhonda. 

 

I have longed admired Apollo both for his own achievements and for those of his sister (Emberez Aphrodite) and his offspring.  From what I have seen so far, particularly with the likes of Dillen and Enferno, Apollo has produced some beautiful dogues within the Van de Paterhoek kennels.  With the combination of Apollo’s lines and those of Rhodonite, I am hoping that Roman matures into something special.  Dillen and Enferno, sons of Apollo and Bintje, can be viewed here.

 

Apollo’s achievements include Best in Group Rotterdam International Show Holland, Dutch Clubmatch Winner 2004, Res-Best Male All Winners Show Amsterdam 2005, and Best of Breeds at Eurodogshow Belgium, Amiens France plus more which can be viewed here.  His offspring have also performed very well -  Puk, Best of Breed at the All Winners Show Amsterdam 2005 is an Apollo daughter, Dillen van de Paterhoek, Best of Breed winner at the 2005 Dutch and Italian clubmatches, is an Apollo son.  A highlight for me was also the 2005 Lyons International Show in France, where Dillen won Best of Breed and Apollo won Res-Best of Breed, a wonderful father and son win from a total of 101 dogues under the well respected DDB Breed Specialists, Prof Raymond Triquet and Mr Philippe Serouil.

 

According to the official results for top Dogue de Bordeaux in France for 2005, Apollo was the highest scoring male dogue, a wonderful achievement in the breed's homeland.  He has also recently been awarded Dogue de Bordeaux if the Year 2006.

 

At the first UK DDB Club Show, Apollo was awarded Best of Breed and Romans sister, Renais was awarded Best Puppy in the Puppy Parade.  Below are photos of Apollo and Renais at the show.

 

Via his grandparents - the two Tex Red dogues who are litter mates - Belle Star (Anya) and Dancing Brave (Tex) - Roman is linebred to this well known litter.  I have long admired Anya, her being the reason I first contacted Emberez.  Anya and Tex’s brother is the famous Red Thunder (Bronson) who can be viewed here. 

Attributes

 

Roman has a lovely headtype, excellent stop, good wrinkle, with a beautiful expression.  He has substantial bone, nice rear angulation, good topline and good width in chest.  Although still only a youngster, he seems to be holding together so we feel that he should mature beautifully.

 

The whole litter was extremely consistent, one aspect that stood out was the bone and substance of the entire litter.  Roman was one of two pick males kept by Emberez and consequently offered to me.

 

Roman has settled in well.  Roman is very sweet natured, very well adjusted and playfull without being too naughty.   Roman is now doing well in the show ring, winning Best of Breeds over dogues much older than himself, Classes in Group and First placings at Royal Shows.
