Cadeau DeLaVie means “Gift of Life”, and that’s how we feel about Ripleys baby girl to us.

 

We chose to linebreed and did a grandfather/granddaughter mating using Aust Ch Runderkraal JourDain, in order to try and capture some of the traits seen in JourDain and the dogues behind him in these old proven bloodlines.  And as I already know many of JourDains offspring, one being my own Chewie, I am comfortable in the knowledge that they are some of the top winning dogues in Australia, and some of the healthiest with low hip and elbow scores.

 

Attributes

 

Cadence has a feminine typey head, although a small head, with a nice shape and good wrinkle and excellent chin mark giving a lovely expression.  She has a very stocky body, deep, low and wide, with ribs well let down below her elbows.  She is very muscular and athletic with a good topline.  Her foreleg placement beneath her chest is excellent and her rear angulation is adequate.  She is very active and fast with so much speed and power, her thigh and shoulder muscles are well developed because of this.

 

She is a small girl weighing only about 45-50kgs and she is not heavy boned.  To her detriment, Cadence has a large white chest, throat and 4 white feet, more than the standard allows for, mainly due to the white up the throat.

 

Cadence is one of the healthiest dogues I have come across.  She has perfect elbows, excellent hip score of 7, shoulders clear and a strong healthy heart.  Her eyes and skin are always in perfect condition, and she has never had as much as a spot of skin problems even when growing up as a baby.

 

While the white lets her down and she won’t be shown to any title, her health and fitness is of such high quality that we have decided to keep Cadence and may one day breed her to the right male and hopefully improve on her rear angulation, bone mass and minimise the white, while keeping her body, head type and offcourse fantastic health and temperament.
